ICT and Innovation - the EITKIC_12-1-2012-0001 research program

The EITKIC_12-1-2012-0001 research program

The EIT ICT Labs Budapest Associate Partner Group, with Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE), Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), and Cisco Systems Ltd. as its members, has been granted HUF 1 billion funding by the state to set up the local Co-Location Centre and serve as a “carrier” for the research projects carried out between March 2013 and the first half of 2014.

The call for proposals was issued in 2012 on the promotion of Hungary’s participation in the EIT KICs and its cooperation with other EIT ICT Labs partners; the R&D&I projects are financed by the Research and Technological Innovation Fund. The EITKIC_12-1-2012-0001 research program resulted in the production of 10 new prototypes, one patent, one new startup, and contributed to at least 10 international R&D projects initiated jointly by the members of the consortium.

The all-day closing conference was organized on 3 June 2014 to conclude the research and innovation results of the program and report on the activities of the Partner Group, where representatives of the government, EIT ICT Labs, and the consortium together with the leading scientists of the projects will participate. The venue of the event is the Faculty of Informatics, ELTE South building (1117 Budapest, Pázmány Péter sétány 1/C) in the vicinity of Infopark.

Plenary lectures were hold in Hungarian, in the room Mogyoródi József (0.822) on the ground floor, supported by demonstrations of the projects in the nearby rooms and spaces. Academic introductions were also complemented by an investors forum.

The event was in Hungarian.

The projects belong to four research categories of high interest:
I.          Solutions for complex infocommunication networks
II.         Mobility and the digital cities of the future
III.        Human-computer collaboration
IV.        The security of critical systems
