Research projects with a real-life value: Some examples

HANDORINO and MouSense

One of the research teams are working on two software products called HANDORINO and MouSense. The products – both of them in a test phase – are freely available and serve just-in-time education.

Research projects with a real-life value: Some examples

More specifically, HANDORINO is an internet based game developing the 6-and-7-year-old children’s inductive reasoning in a playful way. Through games, children enter a world of fun and learn without noticing it. That is, they develop skills which are not directly related to any course material at school but which are basic to thinking and learning in general.

A special asset of the game is that it is accessible by disabled children, too. On the one hand, the MouSense allows physically challenged children to move the cursor not by their hands but by their their heads; on the other hand, the game is compatible with a webcam which monitors the childreans’ facial expressions, and based on them, makes implications for when and where they have difficulties in the games – in fact, the teaching and learning tasks.

The game is accessible at www.handorino.com
