Three days, six countries, ten startups: BrassTacks

The EIT ICT Labs Budapest Associate Partner Group and the Hungarian Mobility and Multimedia Cluster organized a three-day training program for Central-Eastern European startups.

The young entrepreneurs coming from countries including Austria, Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovenia participated in a training program in Budapest on 2-4 December 2013, led by the Y Combinator alumnus Rob Fitzpatrick and by prominent Hungarian entrepreneurs and experts. In the framework of the practice oriented and interactive workshop, the participants could acquire the skills and competences which are the most useful for early-stage startuppers.

The modules of the training focused on topic such us business modelling, the customer-centric thinking inspired by the 'lean', as well as the 'growth hacking' technics integrating product development and marketing. The workshop provided an opportunity also for networking, one-on-one mentoring, and meeting with experts, local investors, and successful startups.

"When I started my first company, I had no business experience. I was a video game designer; my co-founders were architects, artists. None of us knew anything about business. We went to an accelerator and it helped so much." – said the workshop leader Rob Fitzpatrick, sharing his own experience.

"We thought it was a really interesting program because of the learning and workshop part and on the other side to meet the local investor scene." – said Bianca Busetti from Austria, one of the startuppers participating in BrassTacks.
