Why ELTE?

Eötvös Loránd University is an internationally recognized institution and its programs are accredited by the Hungarian Accreditation Board. The diplomas issued by Eötvös Loránd University are acknowledged worldwide, and its course credits are transferable in all countries in the European Union.

 

ELTE has Hungary’s largest selection of educational programs and it is the most active higher education institution in Hungary with respect to mobility programs, institutional bilateral cooperation, and university networks.

 

The university was founded in 1635 by Péter Pázmány, the Archbishop of Esztergom and by the 18th-19th century it turned among the 15 largest universities in the world. The name of Loránd Eötvös was adapted in 1950.

  • Regarding the university ranking in Hungary in 2012, ELTE won 1st place in Academic excellence, and 3rd place in Student excellence
  • Formal bilateral agreements with 400 universities all over the word for cooperation and exchange at an institutional or a faculty level

Since its foundation in 1898, members of the club have won five Olympic gold medals and 400 Hungarian championship titles.

Over 30 sections: aerobics, athletics, badminton, basketball, chess, climbing, football, futsal, handball, hiking, karate, korfball, martial arts, speedminton, table tennis, triathlon, and waterpolo.

It was the first botanical garden of Hungary (founded in 1771) with about 7,000 species and variations of plants.
