Application and admission

Admission requirements

In order to qualify, applicants need to fulfill the admission requirements based on their previous studies, English proficiency and documentation. Here we list the requirements relevant to EU students choosing Budapest as an exit university. Click here to read the Master School’s official requirements page. 


1. Previous studies: A completed Bachelor's degree

Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree encompassing a minimum of 180 ECTS credits or equivalent academic qualifications from an internationally recognized university.


2. Previous studies: Specific admission requirements related to the majors available in Budapest

Service Design and Engineering (SDE)

A  B.Sc. degree primarily in computer science, software engineering, information systems, telecom or digital media is required.  In special cases bachelor degrees from areas like engineering, economics, or industrial arts and design with some potential complementary computer science studies etc. mathematics and programming can be considered.

Digital Media Technology (DMT)

A B.Sc. in electrical engineering or computer science is required. Previous education must have included basic mathematics courses within linear algebra, Fourier methods and probability theory.

Security and Privacy (S&P)

A B.Sc. degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering or information systems sciences with solid skills in mathematics, electrical engineering, software design and programming is required. The average grade must be at least 75% of the scale maximum.


3. Language requirements: proof of English language proficiency

Applicants must provide proof of their English language proficiency, which is generally established through an internationally recognized test, i.e.: IELTS, TOEFL, University of Cambridge and University of Oxford. 4. Required documents for your application

Note that all applicants need to submit a complete application package consisting of the following documents before the application deadline. We highly recommend you to read the admission requirements and application instructions before uploading your documents.

  1. Degree Certificate/Diploma in original language and translated into English or in case of on-going studies a statement certifying that you are in the final year of your studies. The statement must be written by the degree administration office (or equivalent department) and give your expected completion date.  
  2. Transcript of records in original language and translated into English. All courses taken must be included.  
  3. Proof of English proficiency.  
  4. Curriculum Vitae including details on your academic and professional career.  
  5. A letter of motivation in which you prove your innovative potential. For this purpose we ask you to discuss or propose an entrepreneurial idea (A page with a summary and additional pages for details). 
  6. Passport or other kind of identification in English.  
  7. Two letters of recommendation (from professors of the most recently attended higher institution or recent employers).
